The IVC and Bach Collegium 's-Hertogenbosch led by conductor Jeroen Felix join forces for the opening concert with Bach's chamber opera Zerreißet, zersprenget, zertrümmert die Gruft. Star singers of the IVC can be heard in this festive work with choir and orchestra. A real feast for a birthday.

This specially curated programme to mark the 70th anniversary of the IVC will feature IVC prize winners from the Netherlands performing an exuberant programme of arias, duets and ensembles with pianist Hans Eijsackers. A guest performance by the children of Kindcentrum De Sprong will make this concert extra festive.

57th IVC Opera | Oratorio 2024

The International Vocal Competition 's-Hertogenbosch (IVC) celebrates its 70th anniversary in 2024 and presents the 57th edition with Opera and Oratorio from Friday 27 September to Saturday 5 October at the Theater aan de Parade.

Founded in 1954 as a local competition for singers from the Benelux countries, the IVC has grown into one of the most important and prestigious classical singing competitions in the world. More than 600 singers from some 50 countries have entered and from these, 70 singers of the highest calibre present themselves in the first rounds.

The biggest names from the world of opera, oratorio and classical vocal music have been drawn to find the winner. Singers Dame Gwyneth Jones, Roberta Alexander, Eva-Maria Westbroek, Michael Chance and Rosemary Joshua (artistic director The National Opera Studio), Damià Carbonell Nicolau (head of artistic affairs The National Opera), Pål Christian Moe (casting consultant), Karen Stone (director Opera Europa) and Monique Wagemakers (opera director) make up the Jury. You decide who gets the audience award.
